This is the easiest route, which will take you out to the internationally important Wildfowl Reserve of the Wexford Slobs and then on past some fantastic beaches. Be cautious at first on the busy road to Castlebridge until the right turn which takes you down a pleasant lane to ‘The Slobs’. The Discovery Centre and the numerous observation hides along the road are open to the public free of charge. Further on, refreshments may be had in the village of Blackwater. They will be needed because there is a series of short but steep hills in this vicinity. Continue on to where Route2 rejoins Route 1 at Cooney’s Crossroads and from here it is mostly downhill back into Wexford.
