Join us for the open evening and wine reception of Caroline Jacobsz solo show at the Presentation Centre on

Friday 13th January 2017 @ 6.30pm

Caroline graduated from The National College of Art and Design, Dublin in 2003. Originally from Wexford, Caroline has had a rich history of travel and experience having worked in Australia, London and most recently South Africa teaching Art and Design.

While teaching in South Africa Caroline also ran her own set and prop design business Red Slipper Designs. She has exhibited in the Wexford Opera Festival, Art Action Gallery, Antrim and Gallery X, Dublin.

Episodic Memories is Caroline’s first solo exhibition at the Presentation Centre.
Her work touches on subjects such as emigration, travel & choices which are prominent hurdles in the lives of many, but especially challenges many young people and young families in Ireland are faced with in the present climate.
These thought provoking themes are enriched by Caroline’s own personal life experiences, portrayed in such a way that they become relatable, inviting and shared with the viewer.
The creation of Memories and process of remembering is evident in the pieced togetherness of her work resulting in the visual representation of a journey made by decisions.

“Memories underlie so much of our rich life as humans, our ability to learn, to tell stories, even to recognise each other.
“Episodic Memory aims to evoke a sense of memory for the viewer and the artist.
Drawings of national and international icons play a symbolic part in the work. Drawing on location, drawing from photographs, tracing, redrawing, inventing, rubbing, sewing and machine embroidery create images of reflection. Colour appears and disappears. Nostalgia or trepidation is apparent and brings about the realisation that we have choices to make and parts to play.” – Artist’s Statement
